About Us
BobsRocks are a multi award winning community of volunteer fundraisers. We raise funds and awareness for local animal rescue centres and good causes. We are a total non profit community of like minded individuals with “the Boss” at the helm.

“The Boss ” is a self taught, non effacing “doodler” and passionate animal lover, especially rescue dogs! She paints rocks, logs, slates and basically anything she finds that can be upcycled into one of her “master pieces” !

These are then sold to raise the much needed funds for the groups chosen charities. With the help of her very loyal group of “rockers” , many fun, family events are organised throughout the year, from rock/treasure hunts to fun dog shows and our Annual “Bark in the Park” event.

Head over to our Facebook Group BobsRocksUK to become part of our friendly community.

In 2021, roughly 9 months after this rather bizarre idea of painting and hiding rocks began, the Boss was recognised at the famous Woofstock Uk festival where she was nominated and received the Woofstock UK inspiration award., not long afterwards Bobsrocks was nominated for the Pet Plan Animal charity awards. 2022 BobsRocks recieved another nomination for the Pet plan awards in 2023, and again in 2024!

In 2022 Bobs rocks won a BBC make a difference award and in 2023 were nominated for the King Charles Coronation awards for services to fundraising.
Our Story
January 2021 is a time most of us would probably prefer to forget all about. Another year, another lockdown which saw us all scratching around close to home, looking for ways to keep ourselves and our dogs suitably exercised and amused through the short and gloomy winter days.

Down in Cornwall, “The Boss” and her 20-month-old Bull Lurcher, Bob, were starting to get cabin fever. The previous summer had been one of cancelled camping trips and the pair were continuing to miss their favourite pastime of ‘letterboxing’ which, for those not in the know, is something akin to a game of hide and seek, with enthusiasts up and down the country searching for small, plastic boxes and recording their finds. With a return to normality nowhere in sight, “the Boss” wanted to do something to lift local people’s spirits and she set to work, little knowing her attempts to amuse a few random strangers would not only change the direction of her life, but also raise thousands of pounds for a charity close to her heart, the Cornwall branch of the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT). “I thought it would be fun to paint a couple of rocks and put them where people might find them, while they were taking their permitted daily exercise, I painted a message on the back of the rocks and placed them where they could be easily seen. Then I took a photo and put it on Facebook, along with a cryptic clue.”
Anyone finding a rock was asked not to keep it, but to relocate it and post a new photo and clue on Facebook, to keep the game going. Well if “the Boss” had expected muted response she was was in for a big surprise. Suddenly requests were pouring in. “People were asking me to paint bespoke rocks for them and offering to pay for the privilege!” (take a look at our gallery )That’s when she hit on the idea of raising funds for local animal charities and good causes in Cornwall. Things were particularly hard for them, with all fund-raising events cancelled because of the pandemic, so “the Boss” thought she might be able to help out, in a small way, by asking for donations from people either wanting to commission a painted rock to keep or to be sent out to roam.” And so Bob’s Rocks was born. For the past 4 years “The Boss” has hardly put her paintbrush down. She has actually lost count of the number of rocks that have been painted and a conservative guess would be there are now well over 2000 rocks, slates and bits of wood sitting in living rooms, gardens, and roaming around Britain and overseas. 2023 saw a big change within our fundraising community, the novel popularity of BobsRocks saw our Facebook community grow to over 1200 members/followers . With Lockdown finally lifted, soo many more rescue centres and animal causes were still feeling the after affects, so we decided to spread our wings and try to help many more of these struggling rescue centres and good causes.

The Boss

Founder and Owner

The Boss” (Lynn) a military veteran with a passion for the outdoors and rescue dogs (along with all other animals) is a pretty self-effacing person and not keen on being the centre of attention. The Boss originally trained as a Chef in the Royal Air Force and later went on to study for an IT degree and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education before spending several years as a lecturer at Camborne College. A severe accident, where the Boss broke her back saw her career cut short ! But following major surgery the Boss decided she wanted to do something worthwhile to help others ! She started raising funds for local charities with her late soul mate “ThuggyDog”. Sadly ThuggyDog passed away in 2019, and the Boss was at a loss without her side kick! That’s when Bob found her ! “

Bob

Head of Security

Unlike the Boss, Bob is an entirely different character and not easily missed! He is a 40kg rescue bull lurcher. When the Boss first met Bob he was 11 weeks old, (thuggy dog passed away aged 11). It later transpired Bob was put up for adoption 11 minutes after Thuggy had crossed Rainbow bridge. The Boss’ late mums first dog when she was a little girl aged 11 was a black lurcher called Bob! Bob was meant to find the Boss !

Nicola

The Little Boss

Nicola is a qualified zoologist and animal assisted therapy practitioner and works along side IT specialist and philanthropist Stephan in all creature-related adventures; this ides offering animal therapy across Cornwall, and running their exotic animal rescue and pet food bank. The Boss and Nicola first met in 2021 at Woofstock UK when she came over to speak to the Boss after BobsRocks had just been awarded The Woofstock UK Inspiration Award 2021. The Boss soon recruited her to help with providing Christmas stockings for the rescue centre BobsRocks were supporting at the time. Finally in 2024 The Boss and Nicola decided to officially team up so we could help many more Pets and rescue centres in need.
